Screenshots and document OCR

Supercharge your office workflow.

Klip turns LaTeX, Markdown and HTML in your clipboard into native, editable pastes across Microsoft Office, LibreOffice, WPS, ONLYOFFICE, and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides). It converts between them (including HTML), and turns office copies back into clean Markdown. KlipOCR turns a screenshot into clean, formatted text and equations in your clipboard, using on-device OCR. Both run locally on Mac and Windows with no account and no telemetry. Free weekly limits are generous, and one-time licenses for heavy users start at $2.99 USD. The two apps work together seamlessly.

Works where you write.

The app runs and converts to specialized formats in real time as you paste, so tables, math and formatting automatically land clean in every app where you write. Covers Microsoft Office, LibreOffice, WPS, ONLYOFFICE, and Google Workspace — Docs, Sheets, and Slides, not just Docs.

Made for school and office work.

Math you can edit

Math stays editable across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, LibreOffice, ONLYOFFICE and WPS (Google Workspace via Images mode). Anything tricky stays as plain text, so nothing gets lost.

Tables that stay tables

Rows and columns from notes or web pages paste as real tables you can edit, math included. Tables and formatting move cleanly between supported suites, Google Workspace included.

Copy once, paste anywhere

One copy covers Microsoft Office, LibreOffice, WPS, ONLYOFFICE, and Google Workspace at once, with bold, headings, lists, links, and HTML intact. Copy from Office back out and you get clean Markdown/LaTeX.

Read text from pictures

KlipOCR reads screenshots and documents in natural reading order — prose as text, math as LaTeX, tables kept intact — fully on-device.

Works offline between checks

Both apps work offline between license checks: a 30-day offline window plus a 14-day grace period, with a background check about daily when you’re online. Your documents stay on your computer. No account, no telemetry.

Fully customizable

Meticulous control over equation image fallback, the app list, favicon fetching permissions, citation stripping, engine timing logs, worker count and more.

Your questions, answered.

Which apps does it work with?

The full Microsoft Office suite — Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote — plus the full LibreOffice suite, ONLYOFFICE, WPS Office, and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets and Slides). Klip also converts between these apps (HTML included — HTML in stays rich), and copies from any of them back into clean Markdown. Obsidian, Typora and Bear receive your Markdown and LaTeX untouched.

Does my work leave my device?

Both apps work offline between checks: a successful license check covers 30 days offline, plus a 14-day grace period (44 days total). Document content you convert stays on-device; license validation (license ID, seat, device proof, IP), update checks, feedback, and site traffic do leave it. If you paste Markdown or HTML that references a remote image, the app may fetch that URL from the image host (URL, IP, user agent disclosed); turn off internet access or set KLIP_ALLOW_NETWORK=0 and it falls back to alt text. See Terms §11 / Privacy §4. The apps contain no telemetry.

Can it read messy screenshots?

Yes for clear text and tables. Blurry or handwritten pages may need a quick fix after pasting.

What if some math won't convert?

You never lose it. Anything tricky stays as plain text you can fix by hand.

Can it read full documents, not just snips?

Yes. Drop in an image or PDF and KlipOCR reads it into editable text — prose as text, math as LaTeX, tables kept intact. Document mode is part of the paid license.

What can I use for free?

Klip: clipboard pastes up to 1000 characters, 21 free in the first 7 days, then 14 per rolling 7 days; document conversion (document mode) is paid. KlipOCR: 21 free snips in the first 7 days, then 14 per rolling 7 days, no length limit per snip; document mode is paid.

Both apps. Less than a coffee.
